About us
Diasen is a Benefit Corporation (Società Benefit) operating internationally in the production of materials and systems for construction, architecture and design. We develop and manufacture solutions that integrate mineral and plant-based raw materials, such as cork, combining thermal insulation, acoustic performance and breathability with research into surface design. We operate according to ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) criteria and with the transparency of a Benefit Corporation, directing our activity towards reducing the carbon footprint of buildings, the healthiness of indoor environments and design research capable of integrating the aesthetics and performance of surfaces.
Diasen systems and solutions fall into two main areas:
- Mortars based on cork, lime and pozzolanic binder (Diathonite line): Thick-layer systems for thermal and acoustic insulation, dehumidification, protection and restoration of the building envelope.
- Textured finishes (Decork line): Thermal, breathable coatings based on cork, clay and water-based binders, featuring mineral colours and tactile textures, designed for façades, floors, ceilings, walls and interior design.
Why Diasen
The name Diasen is a portmanteau created to fuse product innovation and territorial roots into a single verbal synthesis, a semantic construction that tells the story of the company, where it comes from and its technological matrix. Dia is the root of technological innovation. It comes from Diathonite, the cork-based mortar that is the company’s signature product.
The word Diathonite recalls diatomaceous powders, a mineral component used in formulations to provide porosity, lightness and hygrometric regulation. Placing the syllable Dia at the start of the name means putting scientific research, materials and product innovation first.
Sen recalls Sentinum, the identity and territorial anchor of ancient Roman Sassoferrato. Sentinum represents historical memory, the solidity of matter, continuity with a land rich in manufacturing, and a reference to the tradition of Mediterranean building.

The roots of the future
Diasen is born from the meeting of a solid tradition and a unique territory. It all begins in the 1920s in Fabriano, when Lorenzo Pierantoni chooses to devote himself to making soap. Self-taught, he studies the manuals of the time with the passionate rigour of the pioneers. Over the years, that passion is taken up by his granddaughter Angela and her husband Floriano Mingarelli, who turn that legacy into Italsolventi. Led by Floriano with curiosity and a spirit of innovation, the company explores bold combinations of incompatible elements — such as cork and cement — giving rise to a creative chemistry free of conventions.
In 2000, Diasen took shape from this vision. Founded to renew the tradition of bio-building and living comfort, Diasen projects the knowledge of Mediterranean living and building into the future.
With the arrival of Diego Mingarelli, Floriano’s son, the company expands its boundaries: it opens up to international networks, adopts brand strategies and embraces, in modern form, the Benedictine and Franciscan principles of care for the common good. Supporting this path is a team of young local talents, ambassadors of technologies designed for people’s well-being in their spaces.
Firmly rooted in the Apennines yet with its eyes on global challenges, Diasen continues to sail towards the future with the courage, vision and passion of those who create change.

Hospitality
Diasen interprets hospitality inspired by the Greek model of xenia: a moral duty and the foundation of sociality for Mediterranean cultures. Welcoming clients, designers, applicators and stakeholders is not merely courtesy but an essential element of our identity. It is an energy transmitted through sharing and the premise for solid relationships and lasting partnerships.
Ours is a holistic hospitality that brings together training, dialogue, conviviality, tourism and the enhancement of the territory. A path that sets us apart and makes us unique, crowned by the value of the gift: a metaphor for generosity, sincerity and transparency.

Benefit and B Corp
Diasen has been B Corp certified since 2017 and since 2020 has been registered as a Benefit Corporation (Società Benefit) under Italian Law 208/2015, integrating social and environmental impact metrics directly into its activities and governance processes.
As a B Corp, Diasen belongs to the network of companies assessed by the independent body B Lab through the B Impact Assessment (BIA). This evaluation system measures corporate performance in specific areas, including governance transparency, supply chain management, environmental impact monitoring and worker welfare and safety policies.
Alongside this, Diasen holds Benefit Corporation status and has adopted a corporate Code of Ethics. With Benefit Corporation status, Diasen has formalised common-benefit purposes in its articles of association, committing to report annually in its Impact Report on the actions taken: from research and development oriented to product life-cycle analysis to the integration of by-products and recovered materials in production processes. At the same time, the Code of Ethics sets out the organisation’s rules of conduct, formally regulating internal relations, the behaviour expected within the company community, the application of anti-discrimination practices and the guiding criteria that define the model of relationship with all stakeholders.
All data on social and environmental performance, the Code of Ethics and the annual Impact Report are public and available in the company’s official documentation.
